The Royal Military Canal
The Royal Military Canal Path runs for 28 miles along the
entire length of the Royal Military Canal from Seabrook,
Kent to Cliff End in East Sussex. Many public
footpaths link to the Royal Military Canal Path s it is easy
to plan circular routes that take in sections of the Canal.
The Romney
Marsh Countryside Project leads a variety of free guided
walks and other activities along the Royal Military Canal.
Wildlife Watching
Thousands of birds find refuge in our mild climate and great
flocks of Lapwing and Golden Plover are seen in the pasture.
Large flocks of Mute Swans graze in fields near Winchelsea
station and fly past Camber Castle to roost at Castle Water.
Many different types of ducks and geese can be seen in the
water. Watch these in the nature reserves at Rye
Harbour and Dungeness or from the roadside at Pett Level.
